When we asked our friend and neighbor Mike at Twenty-Four Blackbirds for some freshly roasted cacao nibs, he suggested adding Oaxacan chiles he grew at his cacao and orchid farm in Goleta. Those ingredients came together with Imperial Stout that we aged for three years in Willett Sour Rye Whiskey barrels, developing a viscous body and subtle spirit character, before blending with fresh Russian Imperial Stout.
